The Ottawa Angel Alliance (OAA) is a member-led angel group dedicated to improving the investing experience of both the investor and the entrepreneur.

The Ottawa Angel Alliance (OAA) is an alliance of individual angel investors and venture capital firms. Members are committed to investing in early stage companies in the Ottawa area.

Entrepreneur’s Perspective:
Entrpreneurs spend too much time raising capital, and too little time growing their companies. By providing a larger pool of capital from one source, the amount of time and effort can be reduced.

Angel’s Perspective:
The key risk factors associated with angel investing can be reduced by:
- syndicating sufficient funds to cover the early stage requirements
- performing due diligence on the management, products, and markets
- advising the company on corporate structure, governance, and operations
- involving the venture capital firms in the seed round
- facilitating portfolio diversity

The activites of the Ottawa Angel Alliance are managed by three dedicated 'Managing Angels'. For more information regarding any aspect of the OAA, contact Irving Ebert, Rainer Paduch, or Laurie Davis.
Geographic Focus
Our geographic focus is the National Capital region (Ottawa and Gatineau).

Many angel groups, and we are among them, subscribe to the '1 hour driving distance rule', as angel investing demands a hands on attitude on the part of the investors.

We will selectively consider opportunities from another region if they are led by an angel group in that region.
Industry Focus
Our industry focus is quite broad.

We are particularly attracted to proposals which at their core have clearly differentiated technology or intellectual property. However, in our view, technology alone is an important, but modest contributing factor to the success of a business.

Of particular interest to us are proposals that use technology in innovative ways to deliver clear value to customers, and furthermore exhibit a business design which can scale to generate rapid growth in the market and consequently generate significant returns to investors.
